Modern representations about a physiological role of the human erythrocyte deformability and molecular mechanisms providing this unique property are considered. The review of technique for measuring this parameter is presented. The description of a new device for the deformability dynamics measurements under conditions modeling the red cell movement in vivo is given. An example of the method clinical application is described
