Тhe analysis of service of mobile communication in Azerbaijan

Within the last 10 years in telecommunication sphere of Azerbaijan than 465 mln. dollars have been invested more, 10 joint ventures with involvement of leading world telecommunication companies for support of services of mobile communication and the Internet are created.

Under recommendations ITU and IMF, criterion of a level of development of telecommunications of any country is the number of telephone sets on 100 inhabitants

According to the official data, on density of subscribers of mobile communication, an amount of stationary telephone sets and digitalation automatic telephone exchange Azerbaijan occupies 1 place among the CIS countries. The mobile communication market in Azerbaijan is supervised by two companies: Azerbaijan-Turkish joint venture Azercell and the Azerbaijan-Israeli joint venture Bakcell. Both operators function on the basis of standard GSM 900. For today dominating positions by an amount of subscribers and territory of spanning by mobile communication at Azercell. However and Bakcell has powerful enough client basis, concentrating the attention to service of subscribers of capital of republic Baku. From the beginning of activity Azercell invested in development of telecommunication sector of Azerbaijan $145 million Now number of subscribers of the operator has exceeded 700 thousand means Enclosed during five years' activity Azercell have allowed to envelop mobile communication of 65 % of territory of Azerbaijan. In 2012-2015 the company plans to implement the project of the extension of technical basis of the company and spanning of 95 % of territory of the country.

However level of the relative growth of rates for the main services given by operators of mobile communication, is high. Now cost of mobile negotiations in Azerbaijan above similar indexes of some neighboring countries. For example, cost of 1 minute of negotiations in АР in 2 times is more expensive, than in Georgia approximately in 3 times, than in Ukraine, in 1,7 times, than in Russia. Subscribers of services of operators of mobile communication in Azerbaijan at present are 730 thousand persons.
