Ultrasonic phaco operation is effective and a-traumatic method of cataract removal before implantation of an artificial intraocular lens. Inside the capsule of lens there is a gel of protein containing 30% of proteins (50% of them water-soluble) and 65% of water. Under ultrasonic influence the viscosity of gel liquefies and can be easily removed by aspiration.

The research of the speed of liquification conducted using the viscometry method has shown that the efficiency of liquidation is determined not only with the ultrasound specifications, but also with the original gel features.
