In evolutionary economics the focus is on the processes of development, therefore it uses the mathematical formalism of the theory of nonlinear dynamical systems, which has been successfully used in solving problems in other developing systems, including biological ones. The study of models of mathematical biology has allowed, for example, conclude that a fundamental value of the reaction of participants in economic processes, the dynamics of the economy, as well as the stability of the equilibrium state. In particular, it appears that many economic models have the property of cyclicity. A striking example of the cyclical development of the system is the biological model of the 'predator-prey’ of V.Volterr, in which one species is food for another. [1].

Analysis of mathematical models of the economy of the "predator-prey" is devoted an enormous amount of work with various modifications of Lotka - Volterr, taking into account the effect of various additional regulatory mechanisms. This model is used to study the role of foreign investment in the development of national economy, it can be used to analyze the forward and backward linkages in the development of the two sectors.

As an application of the model "predator-prey" for the investigation of cyclic processes in the changing economy in the course covers macro-economic model of Goodwin [1]. In this model, we consider a continuous dynamic interaction of employment and wage rates. It is assumed that productivity and labor supply grows at a constant rate, and the retirement rate is zero. Since the dynamics of the variables in the model described by Goodwin system of nonlinear differential equations that are analogous to model "predator-prey", then there is an oscillatory process: at a low wage brings about low consumption, large investment, resulting in increased production and employment. Large employment causes an increase in average wages, which leads to increased consumption and declining investment, decline in production and reduce of employment.
