Federal state educational standards and the teaching technology “the student’s portfolio”

Nowadays the education system is characterized a large number of contradictions. The new Federal State Educational Standards are adopted. The FSES have been realized for two years in primary schools. One of the most important ideas of the FSES is to create the objective informal system for evaluation the development of the students, their results and achievement in compulsory subjects, optional subjects and in extracurricular activities of students. The FSES defined the absolute necessity of standardized and non-standardized systems of evaluation such as «The student’s Portfolio» - the file of results and achievement.

The aim of this abstracts is to analyze of the real situation of the introduction of a system for evaluation of the development and the achievement of the student in compulsory subjects, optional subjects and in extracurricular activities by using the teaching technology called «The student’s Portfolio» according the FSES.

The basis of a system of evaluating achievements of students in primary schools is the same standardized evaluation system as ages ago, however the traditional forms of control have been changing. The test forms become more popular.

There is no the direct correlation between the scores for tests and real knowledge of the students and their complex polytechnic development and successful socialization. The FSES offer the teaching technology «The student’s Portfolio» to improve the system of evaluation of students’ achievement at school. Unfortunately there is no adopted state law «The student’s Portfolio» as alternative or adding system of standardized system of evaluation of students’ achievement at school.

The structure of the Portfolio and its status has been delegated to the school with the FSES, and as a rule at present moment Portfolio becomes a collection of diplomas of different children's competitions and craft. It does not perform the main function of the teaching technology «The student’s Portfolio»: the complex present the achievements of the students, to form the children’s skills of evaluation of development themselves, the skills of reflection and skills of evaluation of each other.

«The student’s Portfolio» as a system of evaluating achievements of students without the status the adopted state law cannot use as an important part of the final mark for the course at school. A portfolio of the student cannot help school leavers to use it to enter the university or the institute according students’ professional interests.

Thus, the teaching technology «The student’s Portfolio» suggested by the FSES, as an objective, informal, non-standardized method of evaluation of students’ achievement at school is not used in full yet.
