It is impossible to build a fully democratic society without gender equality. But gender equality is most difficult to achieve: gender relations cover all spheres of our life, therefore it is necessary not only to significantly change many public structures, but also to rebuild the consciousness of the people, relieving it of the many prejudices. Special place in this process should be given to the system of education: it does not only reflect changes occurring in the country, but also plays an important role in shaping ideology, public opinion, have influence on political decision-making by government officials. Getting education is one of the main stages of life which determines the rest of the life process not only for men, but for women as well. However, one of the least developed directions in this area is the development of gender education and gender pedagogy.

The gender-oriented pedagogy focuses not on getting knowledge, but on education of the individual. Gender education of the individual l is taking place under the influence of family, general education, media, religion, art, language, legal and public policy. And only education focused on gender equality is able to form an egalitarian consciousness of future citizens. By helping students get rid of gender stereotypes we give them an opportunity to take a new look at the world, contribute to the development of creative thinking. The level of participation of women in public life is the most important indicator of civilized society, of its democratic character. Any effective social policies towards women should provide opening to them of wider choice of opportunities and teaching them how to use them. Without the solution of this problem economic reforms and socio-economic development of Russia are not possible at all.

Gender education will allow solving many important social problems, will contribute to the adaptation of the society to the modern processes and more dynamical social development. Gender-oriented pedagogy should become a key component of general pedagogical education.
